Since 1972, Poe Travel and the Arkansas Arts Center have partnered
on over 100 cutting-edge group trips that have spanned the globe.
The only continent we haven't been to together is Antarctica! Together
we have seen practically every art treasure of the world, both artistic
and architectural. Besides visiting most major museums, we have
consistently been afforded unprecedented access to private collections
only dreamed of by the lay traveler. Some examples that stand out
are:
- Visiting
China in 1973, while Mao was still alive, with the first non-official
American group trip there.
- Being escorted by the Dutchess
of Alba's son through their palace in Madrid.
- A trip to Iran including
a visit to the Persepolis complex before the revolution.
- Toulouse Loutrec's great
grand niece entertained us in the Loutrec home in Albi, France.
- Having Renoir's grandson
entertain us at his studio in Cagnes-sur-Mer.
- A trip to Afghanistan prior
to the Russian Afghan war. Among other things we were able to
see were now-destroyed Bamiyan Buddhas.
