Ever wonder where the stellar Poe Travel team dreams of traveling (or returning to) in their own time? We asked the team for the festive destinations they can’t get out of their heads, and here’s what they had to say. . .

Paris in December is magical, with the festive lights twinkling around the city. The weather was cold but dry, perfect for putting on your most stylish coat and gloves and strolling through the City of Lights. All the stores were festive. We dropped by a boutique Baccarat crystal store, which treated us to a glass of champagne and a drop-in gift! Of course, the restaurants were great too.

Dublin and Belfast are also great this time of year. My daughter and I started in Belfast, where the city holiday festival was happening. Tons of yummy food, the best of which was a pastry cone filled with Nutella and ice cream with shaved chocolate on top!”

“Oh, I could go on forever with my festive travel bucket list, but here are a few I’m dying to get to. . . Union Øye and the Storfjord Hotel, both in gorgeous Norway; Brenners Park in Baden Baden, Germany; Glenapp Castle in Scotland; White Deer San Lorenzo Mountain Lodge in the far north of Italy; and of course my dream to take an entire castle like Birkhill with Loyd & Townsend-Rose in the UK for a fabulous house party.”

Bolton

“I can honestly say I’d love to be at Belmond’s Cap Juluca any time of year, but it would be especially wonderful during the holidays. I mean, it’s the most beautiful beach in the world, after all! What better place to ring in the New Year?”

“I try to do an American southwest trip every year for Thanksgiving. The weather in the desert is just perfect that time of year: chilly and dry! Rosewood’s Inn at the Anasazi in Sante Fe would make a fabulous Thanksgiving spot. Or, if you’re looking for something in December, the Grand Canyon. A family trip I took there as a child is still one of my favorite all-time memories. Seeing it covered in snow was beautiful.”

“I have always been a bit of a Christmas freak, and the idea of going up to Lapland and experiencing a true storybook winter wonderland has always been appealing. Glass igloo accommodations with views of the Northern Lights, hot cups of cocoa, and meeting actual reindeer? Sign me up.”

Aspen, Colorado, looks like a snow globe at Christmastime. It was one of my favorite winter trips. Driving through Colorado at sunrise, with the freshly fallen snow and wildlife grazing in the fields, is picture perfect.”
