On the Caribbean island of Antigua’s southern tip lies Curtain Bluff Resort, aptly named as it sits on the Curtain Bluff Peninsula, straddling not one but two gorgeous white sand beaches. We are so excited to share that Curtain Bluff will be re-opening to guests on October 24th, and it is a stunning option for those looking for a safe getaway in the coming months, especially if you’re looking for a little more out of a Caribbean trip than just sun and sea (though there is plenty of both of those as well!).

Choose Your Accommodation

The resort is made up of just 72 guest rooms, junior suites, and suites. No matter which accommodation level you choose, you’ll be treated to either a balcony or garden patio with views of the sea. Junior Suites feature a sunken living room with sea-grass sofas and armchairs, accented with blues and greens that mirror the colors outside. Floor-to-ceiling glass doors lead onto verandas and terraces overlooking the sea.

As for suite options, there are three suite categories. The Terrace Suite enjoys a private location at the very top of the bluff overlooking the beach, Morris Bay, and the Caribbean Sea, making it a firm favorite for couples looking for a romantic getaway, particularly newlyweds. The Cliff Suite is nestled into a hillside and has an infinity soaking pool. The Grace Bay/Morris Bay Suite is the hotel’s most luxurious level of accommodation (and that’s saying something!). These two generously scaled suites are located right on the beach’s “surf beach” and enjoy a bedroom, living room, and sweeping veranda complete with a private plunge pool, the perfect place for enjoying some sunbathing or perhaps cocktails under the stars.

Unbelievably All-Inclusive

Did we mention that Curtain Bluff is all-inclusive?! It seems too good to be true, but there it is. Delicious a-la-carte dining experiences, premium beverages, and a range of activities are all included in your nightly rate. Activities include watersports, diving, snorkeling, Hobie Cats, yoga, tennis, water skiing, kid’s club, and sailing.

You’ll be spoiled for choice with two bars and two restaurants, as well as poolside and beach service options for dining. The Tamarind Tree restaurant is set amidst tropical gardens, and the Sea Grape restaurant is surrounded by the sound of the lapping waves of the calm beach. Not to be forgotten is the world-class wine cellar, with 420 varieties of fine wines. It is considered by many to be one of the best in the Caribbean. House wines are included in your nightly rate, but we have a feeling wine aficionados won’t be able to resist having a peek at the wine list housed in a cellar like that one.

Tennis Enthusiasts, Rejoice!

For those avid tennis players, Curtain Bluff is serving up something special. You can tell Curtain Bluff takes tennis seriously from the high quality of their Tennis Center, and each year, the resort hosts two Tennis Challenge weeks (tentatively scheduled for May 2021 and November 2021). Guests who so wish can partake in a fantastic week of tennis with tennis legends and professionals as well as the always-fabulous dining, rooms right on the beach, and a fantastic selection of watersports and spa activities. The Tennis Challenge is open to players of all levels, including beginners. In fact, what better way to learn the sport is there than by learning with top tennis professionals? You’ll enjoy gourmet dining and all drinks (unless you choose to delve into that wine cellar we mentioned!), as well as live nightly music, activities, and Curtain Bluff’s two pristine beaches. For those interested, we can provide a more detailed tentative schedule of events nearer the time.

A Safe Getaway

With an abundance of wide-open spaces at the resort coupled with the open-air dining options at both of their restaurants, Curtain Bluff is naturally set up to allow for social distancing, making it a very safe place to vacation in the current climate. Rob Sherman, the Managing Director at Curtain Bluff, said, “We are so excited to re-open our doors to our Curtain Bluff family and all those new guests looking for a safe getaway. Our resort is naturally designed to provide both a spatially distant and open-air experience for guests, an example being that every room is beachfront and open to warm Caribbean trade winds, making the use of air conditioning unnecessary. However, during the temporary closure we worked to ensure we could safely and responsibly re-open by implementing new protocols and cleaning technologies. We take this new challenge very seriously and will be diligent in our actions to service all of our guests responsibly while providing them with our famous, friendly service.”

Curtain Bluff is also part of our trusted Virtuoso network, meaning we can offer you some extra perks as well for being a Poe Travel client. These include:

  • Upgrade on arrival, subject to availability

  • $100 USD Equivalent Resort/Hotel credit, to be utilized during stay (not combinable, not valid on room rate, no cash value if not redeemed in full)

  • Early check-in/late check-out, subject to availability

  • Complimentary Wi-Fi
