A Reopening to Celebrate

In very exciting news that hints at the beginning of the end of travel bans, Iceland has opened its doors to vaccinated travelers from the US, as well as those who have previously had COVID-19. There is some paperwork to be done before traveling, and you must have a PCR test before you leave the US and on arrival into Iceland, all of which we can help you navigate and arrange for your convenience.

Why Iceland?

Iceland is one of the world’s most stunning destinations, and it is truly a land of contrasts: frozen but warm, otherworldly yet accessible, and slightly frightening but beautiful. We work in partnership with our friends at Private Travel Iceland to create truly unforgettable Iceland itineraries for our clients, itineraries that celebrate all the contrasts and highlights of Iceland. Take a stroll in the city center and watch the evening sunset over the mountains simultaneously, or sit in a hot pool of geothermal water while you’re surrounded by snow. These are things you’d think could never happen at the same time, but in Iceland, it’s all possible, and the geological makeup of this country will remind you that our planet is ever-changing.

Celebrating Icelandic Nature

Our partnership with Private Travel Iceland ensures that you will be looked after in the comfort and luxury you’re accustomed to while also delving deep to discover the common thread running throughout each tailor-made itinerary: Icelandic nature. Take a quiet walk in the rugged natural setting, journey inside of a volcano, drive in the craggy landscape of the highlands, dive in a clear fissure between tectonic plates, and discover Icelandic wildlife. This island is a playground of endless possibilities, just waiting for you to decide which route you’ll take.

Why is “Tailor-Made” So Important?

When you book an Iceland itinerary with Poe Travel, every aspect of it will be tailor-made just for you, your interests, and those of the travelers who will accompany you on this journey. Poe Travel and our friends at Private Travel Iceland know that a detail that might go unnoticed by one family would mean absolutely everything to another one, and these small differences can take your annual family vacation to the next level, turning it into something you will never forget. Creating unique and special experiences is kind of our thing, so whether you want to propose on top of a glacier, sip champagne in a lava tube, or have a private lunch in the remote Icelandic nature, we’ve got you covered.

The Latest News from Iceland

Over the past few weeks, there have been thousands (yes, you read that right!) of earthquakes in Iceland, and last Friday, the Fagradalsfjall volcano erupted. We realize this sounds bad, but the volcano poses no threat to anyone as of now, and it provides a very unique opportunity for those travelers who are first through the gate as Iceland reopens today. We can arrange for you to safely view the eruption by helicopter, a truly once-in-a-lifetime experience. Witnessing this moment in history, watching as the earth literally changes and shapes right before your eyes…well, it’s worth booking a last-minute trip to Iceland to see.

When to Visit Iceland

Even if you don’t make it for the volcanic eruption, there’s no time like the present to begin planning your trip to Iceland. The time of year you visit depends on what you’d like to get out of the trip. If you’re looking to do a good amount of hiking and really connect with nature, most will tell you that July and August are the best months to visit. This works nicely with summer holidays from school as well, so that’s a plus.

If you’re hoping to catch a glimpse of the coveted Northern Lights, though, visit in February, March, September, or October. It’s never guaranteed that you’ll see the Aurora Borealis, of course, but you stand a better chance when traveling in those months.
