Leisure travelers are officially being welcomed back to Italy via Delta’s exciting new COVID-tested flights. It’s time to board your flight and return to Italia!
If you have been missing Europe even half as much as we have, you will be thrilled to know that Italy’s borders have opened once more courtesy of Delta’s COVID-tested flights. The new entry requirements became effective as of May 16th, allowing American leisure travelers to enter the country for the first time in more than a year.
How to Get Onboard
To fly on Delta’s COVID-tested flights from the US to Italy, passengers are required to complete mandatory testing on departure from the US and on arrival in Italy, regardless of vaccination status.
After receiving a negative test, passengers will NOT be required to quarantine, leaving you free to start your Italian adventure in earnest, soaking up the summer sunshine, sipping some vino, and indulging your sweet tooth with a bit of gelato. Keep an eye on our blog over the coming days. We will be sharing some Italian gems that will have you packing your bags and booking your flights.
Available Routes
Passengers currently have several choices of nonstop COVID-tested flights to Italy, including:
Five-times-a-week between Atlanta and Rome, increasing to daily on May 26th
Daily service between New York’s JFK and Milan
Three-times-a-week between JFK and Rome, increasing to daily on July 1st
In addition, three more nonstop routes will be introduced this summer, increasing your options to slip away to Italy. These new routes are:
New York’s JFK to Venice, beginning July 2nd
Atlanta to Venice, beginning August 5th
Boston to Rome, beginning August 5th
Other Destinations Covered by Delta’s COVID-Tested Flights
In addition to the exciting news about Italy, it’s worth noting that Italy is actually the fourth European destination to be covered by Delta’s COVID-tested flight program. Here are the other European getaways you can make courtesy of Delta this summer:
Iceland, effective May 28th (accessible from multiple gateways in the US)
Greece, effective May 28th (accessible from multiple gateways in the US)
Croatia, effective July 2nd (from New York’s JFK)
