Virginia is for lovers . . . and golfers . . . and . . .

It's like summer camp . . .

 . . . but without the homesickness . . . and with wine.

From rugged, outdoorsy types to buttoned-up golfers, each and all will feel equally at home at Primland, an off-the-beaten-path gem nestled in Virginia’s Blue Ridge Mountains. You can stay in the well-appointed Lodge or choose from a Fairway Cottage, Mountain Home, Pinnacle cottage, or even a tree house! It doesn’t get much more fun than that.

Set on a 12,000-acre estate, this beautiful resort has activities galore in addition to its renowned world-class golf and sport shooting. To name but a few: horseback riding, kayaking, tomahawk throwing, geochaching, tree climbing (with ropes and a guide), fly fishing, archery, and disc golf.

Animal lovers and nature enthusiasts will be awestruck by the surroundings and wildlife; your neighbors might include black bears, deer, wild turkey, bobcats, and bald eagles. (There are so many different kinds of animals that Virginia Tech published an official Field Guide to the Nature of Primland, listing every kind of species that has been found on the property!) It’s an eco-conscious retreat, but one with an eye towards luxury and gastronomy. Just our kind of place—and who knew it was there? Well, we did, of course! That's our job.

Our absolute favorite thing about it: Primland has its own observatory! So you can stargaze to your heart’s content, and sans light pollution.
